Are you currently using Mozilla's Firefox as your browser?

I've been using Mozilla's Firefox browser for about two months now and I don't think I'm ever going to use Internet Explorer again. Firefox rocks!

I was just wondering how many of you other Abyss users in this forum are using Firefox and what you think of it. Also, if you've used both Internet Explorer and Firefox, do you find that Abyss works differently on either browser?

Just curious. Thanks for participating in my little poll. :)

Unfortunely, there is no browser with so much technology like Internet Explorer, and so much security like Firefox ;(

Sometimes I need to close Firefox for a while to check something in Internet Explorer.

I use Firefox 90% of the time. The other 10% is Opera. ;)
The only time I open IE is to check the layout of a site I'm designing.

I use Opera all the time, except for online banking with NatWest (they don't support it yet:( ) then I use IE. I do not trust FireFox enough to use it.

Why not? Firefox is very safe browser...

Firefox has more 'protection' so to speak. The only reason I don't like firefox is becuase it uses a lot more memory than IE. Right now I see FF using 19,492 kb. And IE is only using 9,000 kb.

The only thing I see wrong about IE is those dumb Security Warnings. Also
the fact that people can make you automaticly open dos prompts is bad.

Well i've been using FireFox since back in the day when it was called 'FireBird'! It has always been great(was a little buggy at first) but for the past 10-12months has been an awesome browser... I'm a die hard FireFox user and like some have said, i only open IE to test my layouts. FireFox uses less memory then IE on my computer(but i guess it varies from PC to PC). FireFox also loads faster on my PC then IE and i do notice an increase in speed when browsing... Although some say IE is faster for them. I guess it all varies on your PC and what you like... I prefer FireFox... (plus you can't beat tab browsing) :)

If the good folks at Aprelium could create some sort of extension to include Abyss in Firefox's browser as the default web server, it would be sheer genius and another nail in Microsoft's coffin!

I wonder if it could be done?

Why would having this in FireFox help when it already runs in the taskbar, so its visable anyways. However, i think a good FireFox Plugin would be to display the status of Abyss(ex: in the status bar have like a 'red' or 'green' dot for if Abyss is running right, and then have the uptime there and you could click it to bring up the console... I think anybody with programming knowledge could do this. I currently use a few plugins for FireFox that display in the status bar(one is a Gmail Alert and another is a Weather Plugin to display icons of my weather, ex: storms, rain, sunny, etc, and my fav plugin lets me run Winamp from the status bar, so i don't have to keep opening Winamp to change songs, i just hit there)...

If somebody from Aprelium has knowledge to do this, or i might talk to a few buddies who mess around with FireFox plugins and see what they can do... I would love to have the Abyss status and uptime in my status bar. Just to keep me alerted to things.

Okay, sorry... I guess i missunderstood what you guys were talking about. Thats my fault. I thought you guys just wanted a button in FireFox to click to open the console... I didn't read anything about what features or whatever, so i wasn't sure... Sorry about the mistake.

Yeah, those 3 ex are the best. I would love to have the Abyss Status, Uptime, and whatever else you guys want, right next to my Weather...

I abandoned IE about 2 years ago almost exclusively because of the pop-up problem. I surf pretty hard and it really annoyed me. I started using Opera 6 and then 7. It is a great browser, but the ad-supported stuff started getting on my nerves, as well as not fully supporting Web Standards, i.e. full CSS compliance. I played with Firefox since 0.6 and started using it as my main browser at 0.9 and am fully comitted at version 1.0. I still fire up IE to check sites I design, but that's it. I've even found extensions which replicate some of the really cutting-edge features of Opera...now if they would just cut that fee or ads thing... I just don't see how they will be able to compete with a really great and full featured browser like Firefox. Notice, even with XP SP2, IE6 is still not in the running...will there even ever be an IE7 and will it finally support web standards??

I use Firefox, always will since download, downloaded it yesterday actually, but I know from very reliable sources that Firefox features are:

Easier to use multiple sites at once

A lot safer, no more adware, spyware installing, or virus automatically installing due to IE automatically running scripts, etc.

It's CSS is way better

Better features

(EDIT: Better layout too! Much more simpler!)

etc, etc.

I still wonder to myself why I used IE for so long!

Dudes, I scanned my pc for spyware/adware last night and the scanner didn't find ANY spyware or adware at all AGAIN. This the 6th time in a row that this has happened and I know that it's because of Firefox.

I use both Spybot and Ad-Aware, I keep them both up-to-date and I scan frequently. Even with all of that, I still used to discover spyware/adware on my pc in the past - because I was using IE.

Ever since I put Firefox on here, the results have been negative. Now, that's impressive to me.

I'm using Mozilla's mail client, Thunderbird, now also. It kicks Outlook Express's ass, pardon my French. I found a program that works with Thunderbird that lets you get your email from Hotmail, Yahoo or AOL's servers through your mail client. I tried it with my Hotmail account last night and it worked! It's called IzyMail or something like that. lol.

Yes, you can get all that in firefox lol! I don't use the IRC, but it's there!

Btw, Firefox and thunderbird are also FREE (as you put it).

And Firefox is totally secure without even changing a single thing! Anyone can download, install and use it without having to edit a single setting!

Plus FireFox is customizable beyond belief!

For some reason my PHP script does not work in Firefox but it works fine in IE
so can someone please help me fix this if possible , is my form setup wrong ?

It would be useful to see the page setup as a testpage somewhere - there's nothing obviously wrong with the basic code... Seeing the delete.php page that it submits to and what feedback that generates would help understand it in context better.

I already fixed it , it seems that since IE doesn't fully comply with the w3c
standards , they had to modify the code a little bit in order to make it work.

Fox hunting is now illegal, so i don't think i'll be able to use firefox legally!-)

i keep trying firefox at college, but it keeps "timing out", but i have used firefox to test the layout of my website and it works great
