I'm presently updating a series of web pages. Since I am only responsible for one section of a larger web site, and I am going to be passing the responsibility along by the end of the month, I don't want to change a lot of things.

My problem is that I cannot get the following SSI statement to work.

<!--#include virtual="/completenav-sty.inc"-->

This adds a navigation bar at the bottom of all website pages. When I preview the web page, I get the following:

[SSI Error in directive include in line 165: Not Found]

Setup: I am using Windows XP and HomeSite 5.5 with Abyss acting as the local web server. The server mappings are defined as the parent directory of the sub-directory that I am responsible for. The navigation bar include file is in the parent directory. Because of the include file location, the "#include file" option is not available.

I have a PHP file in the same directory as the HTML files and it runs correctly, which make me believe the server bindings are defined correctly.

After experimentation, I discovered that the virtual directory in this case was the "htdocs" directory under the Abyss server directory. After moving all of the include files to that direcrtory, they were now being found.

Site debugging and validation continues,
