				Hi,

I have a server running with files for just about everything (forum pics, web pics, stats etc)

I also host an AVI file of 850MB and I know that FTP would be better, but I want to know where people browse from when downloading the file.

At the moment I have a connectionlimit of 20 which isn't a problem, but recently I have to reset the server via the powerswitch remote in order to get mail/http/pcanywhere connections 2 times a week by now. (its in co-lo)

I noticed from the log that some people don't like to download with 1 connection from a 100MBit server so they used 8 to 14 connections.

No clue why you would do that of course, but this has such a big impact that I am starting to wonder if you can set a connectionlimit of 3 or 4 connections based on the IP someone is coming from.

Is it possble in 1.2 or in the beta?

Before I forget, no PHP isn't an option for me. :(

Thanks for your time. |

The beta will allow Bandwidth Throttling which is exactly what your asking for

but it will not limit 3 or 4 connections per User IP but you can limit speed per

IP Address or set a Maximum Speed the server will handle all together. |

Thanks for your reply TRUSTpunk, but I was asking for the thing thats not supported. ;)

Speed isn't the issue, but the connectionabuse is.

I was planning on reinstalling the machine witn 2k server instead of the temp XP install thats on it now, I am pretty sure that will fix many (including this) problems. |

				Step 1: Install the beta.

Step 2: RTFM

Problem solved. |
