Hi glyde51--
There are various solutions. If you want to have a domain name to transfer to your dynamic ip address you can use a service like no-ip.com. There are others and probably others will post their favorite service here as well.
Then you need to buy a .com or any other tld. I use godaddy.com but again, there are many other services which will allow you to do the same thing, but this is the one I am using now.
Then you tell your domain registrar to set the nameservers to the appropriate nameserver that your no-ip (or any other domain forwarding service) gives you to use. These domain forwarding services usually have a script that runs on your pc and updates to you ip address as it changes.
Caveat...nothing is perfect, but it's amazing what you can do!
I hope this helps.

What port is your server on , I can recommend a ton of free and paid
domain hosts , that can register you a domain for Abyss Web Server.
Free sub domains for your Server IP Address.
01. No-IP - www.no-ip.com
02. DotTK - www.dot.tk
03. Dynu Basic - www.dynu.com
04. 2MyDNS - www.2mydns.com
05. HN.ORG - www.hn.org
06. DynDNS - www.dyndns.org
07. SelfHost - www.selfhost.com
Note: 1 & 3 are perfect for Dynamic IP's because they have programs
that will automaticly update your IP Address to their DNS servers. :) |

glyde51--
Well, you are using your own computer to host your domain. Following the advice above is the way to use your own computer to host your domain. *All* servers, not just Abyss, must have a assigned dns server pointing a domain towards a IP address. The services mentioned allow you to to have a dns server point to your dynamic (changing) IP address.
But there is no way to just have your computer become mydomain.com without it hooking up to the system of names and ip addresses that allow internet traffic to get where it is supposed to go.
