I wanted to use an executable written in VB5 to generate forms responses. This was partly to re-use existing code, and partly because interaction with an MS Access type .mdb file was required. VB does not readily communicate with stdin and stdout. The solution is actually quite simple, and involves file reading and writing to pipes. The technique is described in the Microsoft Knowledge Base article KB 239588 - How to Write CGI Applications in Visual Basic. Others may find this useful.

Aprelium has written a free VB-CGI package that can help you write CGI applications with VB4-5-6. If you want to test it (and use it), please contact support@aprelium.com .

You can try CGI4VB.bas. That's a free VB CGI-Module. If you look for it on the internet, you can probably find a lot :)

I have been using it quite a lot.
