Hello,
Im wanting to run the server on a separate machine on my network. I dont want to have to have a monitor and keyboard on the other pc. I would like to be able to access it from my main pc to start/stop the server, upload files and things. Just leave it running under the desk like a real server.
My Router has extra Ethernet ports. I was wondering if anybody has tried or done this before. _________________ Thank You

Yeah, simple enough, you just set up an install of whatever OS you need and software, you then route all ports needed to that machine, you then remote access your web server over the lan by its LAN assigned IP address + the console port you se, eg where you would access by http://127.0.0.1:9999/ for example, if the machine was assigned 192.168.1.103 you would use http://192.168.1.103:9999/ to access the webserver |

You could install some remote control software so that you can control your pc from another pc with the software installed on.
I use this (http://ultravnc.sourceforge.net/) and it is very good. You can chat with the other person, not that you would want to, and you can do file transfer if needed. Its all protected by a single password. _________________ Matthew |
