I was wondering how could I direct it to a .html or .htm? Shouldn't it respond to index.htm? I'm confused. |

Yes, it should. The default setup for Abyss will direct to index.htm and index.html
you can check this on
Console > Server Configuration > Advanced > Server Parameters _________________ 'Smile', he said, 'things could get worse...'
So I smiled, and things got worse... |

as long as it is named index.html and it is sitting in the right directory... _________________ 'Smile', he said, 'things could get worse...'

OR!
if you input the informatiuon in as your indexpage as being...
whatever_you_want_to_call_your_default_homepage.html
that gets served up, you then delete all other index.html .htm
and that page will be the default page that gets served up.
IF you change the default page, you will need to put in some error page that can deal with passing invalid page requests, these can be redirected to the default hompage your using, this then ensures that if people try to guess your homepage, even if they get it wrong, they will end up at your homepage. |

Hmmm... That brings up a question. Suppose that I have an index.htm, index.html and an index.php in my htdocs directory. Which file will be opened? Is there a prioritized order? |

Any file in your indexes list will only act as a index file meaning that if you
have that file in your htdocs then that certain file thats in the indexes list
will be displayed as the main website , I hope that helped you out alot. Later! |
