Hi,
I'm no expert but you should fisrt find out your current IP of your computer provided by your ISP. Click on the following:
http://www.aprelium/ip/.
You should now see your IP provided by your IPS.
Another think you should know. In a lot of cases, when you oder an domain name, the registrar will put there IP address and re-route to a page "Under construction". I have try it, and it is not your case, so you might be left without an IP. Also, go to your registrar and see if it existe.
If you have a dynamic IP (meening that it will change or be renewed), you may want to check it out with www.no-ip.com
You can also see www.zoneedit.com for a free service. I thing day do support dynamic IP.
Also, your ISP might be blocking port 80. For this, you will need a port redirection. See www.no-ip.com or www.dyndns.com. You will have to pay for the service but the fees are low comparing of having an hosting company to it for you.
My website: http://karate.no-ip.info, uses a port redirection. This link also works: http://karate.dyndns.ws:8080. As you will see, with no-ip.com, I do not have to pay to have port redirection, while with dyndns.com, I had to, so, to avoid paying fees, I hadded the :8080 at the end of the website name. Also, I do not own a domain name for this website, I'm using there names to redirect to my website.
Complexe!?!, see the following website: www.dslwebserver.com, you will find very good information. Actually, it is because the above link that I'm able to run my website.
I should have a website name shortly. I will still need the port redirection though!
Good luck!!! |

I would recomend www.dyndns.org over no-ip.com anyday because I have tried no-ip.com and if failed at the most basic level.
The Dnydns.org updates are faster and your IP is tracked more acurately than no-ip which only can detect the Proxy Address assigned by the ISP, nearly all ISP's run a set of proxys for their customers, this is to try and stop fileshares across the internet.
As for detecting the URL, you need to use a script to extract the 'Domain' part of the URL that the browser presents to the server on page request, this will allow you to re-direct to the correct doamin.
Your alternative would be to set up some aliases and use your http://your-ip_or_DNS-name/domain_name to access the domain as an alias.
An alternative is to use client-side javascript to pre determine the request URL from the server so that you use the clients web-browser to ask for the correct URL rather than your server working out where to send people, sometimes easier option when you only have a few domains. |

Thats down to configuration, unless you configure your router, you wont beable to, if you run a firewall, you may need to add the domain name (DNS) you use to the firewalls trusted URL's / networks / IP addresses
Dig deeper. |
