Does anybody know how big web hosting companys get direct access to the internet, without having to use an ISP? |

They don't magically get internet access entirely through their own steam... A lot of them are just reselling bandwidth bought from a larger host. The largest hosts have their own servers, datacenters and dedicated connections, again paid for. On the very low end you could get your own dedicated server and have it colo'd.

I've always wondered, though, with bandwidth so expensive, how can people actually make a profitable hosting company?
Say, with Speakeasy, you can get 768K upstream for $80/month. That would take 16 hosting clients at $5/month each just to break even. And 768K bandwidth most likely isn't even enough to host 8 clients, let alone 16. This just doesn't sound probable in my mind... _________________ Bienvenidos! |

thats why people use http://www.influxhost.com/reseller.html rather than
Speakeasy
well not everyone use influxhost because if you forget to put host you get a CENSORED site then people forget what they was doing _________________ Check It Out... Nochex Classifieds |
