hi, im using a wireless lan and my ip starts from 192.168.1.1.. just to make sure, this ip is a private ip right? and if i log on to a website that has my ip logged, what would it be? would it be my private ip? noob here so pls dun mind my dumb question

Yes, the IP 192.168.1.1 is assigned by your router/server on your lan, and is private.

A site would under no circumstance log your private ip, because that is only on your lan, behind your router. It would log your external WAN address, i.e. the ip of your router; something like 81.65.212.21 for example.

You could try http://www.aprelium.com/ip

Also http://www.psi-rho.com/dsltools/test.php?type=ip, which shows your hostname.

If both sites say the same ip, then thats it. If not, i would take the ip from the second site as this takes into account proxies as well.

by the way, if i want to let others access my server in my pc, what ip should i give them? my router's ip?

you would give them your routers ip,

make sure you set up port forwarding in the router to forward port 80 to your internal (private) ip of the computer running abyss

ok...one more thing, if i switch off the pc which abyss web server is on, will my users still be able to access?
