|
|
Hi,
I've just downloaded and installed Abyss for OS X (10.2) on the Mac and I can't access the console page. When I first installed it, I got as far as the console, entered a login and password, hit enter and got the 401 - Unauthorized page straight away - no wrong password or wrong username message. Today, I don't even get that - I get a popup login box (not an HTML login form sitting in a web page), which wont accept the user name and password.
I followed some of the other advice in the forum, and deleted the login/password from the config file and tried to access the console again - still went straight to the popup login. Couldn't get back to a served HTML console page.
Deleted the whole application, re-extracted from the dmg file and re-installed - same thing as above.
tried clicking Auto-detect on the Server Settings to get a new console port (I'm using 9999) and it gave me 1024 - but when I tried that - I'm back to the popup login.
The server is serving HTML on port 8000 without a problem, and I can also access some of the /doc pages which seem to be serving from port 9999.
I tried manually editing the config file to serve HTML on port 80, but it seems to be completely ignoring my changes. The second install didn't even create a .conf file, and I had to drag the old one out of the trash.
This is a completely clean install of OS X on a reformatted drive. The only other thing installed apart from the OS are the drivers for my DWL-122 USB wireless access card. I'm using IE 5.21 with all the default setting, and I don't want to install Opera.
Any help much appreciated. |

Abyss only reads the new abyss.conf file once it is restarted. Delete the username and password in the configuration file so you are able to enter a new set. Once the prompt comes up to enter the new set, enter "user" for username, and "pass" for password. This way, you won't be able to mess them up.
Then try it. _________________ Bienvenidos! |

Thanks for your replies. I did restart the server after removing the user name and password, and I was expecting to see the screen where you enter a login and a password and confirm the password...which I had seen after the first install and is a served HTML page, but I don't get that, so there is no way for me to enter a login and password, even though the system keeps asking me for one. I even tried the advice of other post on the forum which had the MD5 hash of for a passowrd of "changeme" with a user name of "user" - pasted it into the config, but no joy. I have Abyss running on my PC so I know what to expect, I'm just not getting it! I'm currently trying to get Apache running, but it's overkill for what I need to serve - and too complicated - I can't even find the conf files!
Thanks,
Russ. |

(The conf file is in the Apache directory).
I think Aprelium can help you out on this one. Either email them at support@aprelium.com or wait until they post on this forum. _________________ Bienvenidos! |

redkins,
When you change the abyss.conf manually, Abyss Web Server must be OFF (the application shouldn't be running).
Setting port 80 manually won't work all the time. MacOS X won't let you use ports < 1024 without authenticating yourself as a computer administrator (in Server menu, you should use "Allow use of ports below 1024".)
Please send us your abyss.conf file to support@aprelium.com and tell us which browser are you using? By the way, what text editor have you used to change abyss.conf? _________________ Support Team
