Hey people i can only get my server from my computer and im not running a router and firewalls dont block my port and im kinda like a computer proffesion and help me what to do because i think its cuz port 80 is designated for normal viewing and not for accepting incoming requests of port 80. But i want to know that my ip i given to my friends are not 192.168.0.x or 127.0.0.1 and im sure that its like 219.78.x.x (x is for random numbers) help me solve and its not afflicated with the other topics. |

get your ip here:
http://www.aprelium.com/ip/
if that does not work try using a different port like port 81 as some ISP's block access to port 80  _________________ Olly |

If you can't connect on port 80 from a different computer and your sure your not blocking it yourself most likely your ISP is. You could try contacting them to see why they do and if they have any 'alternatives'. If they do block it and won't change it then run your server on a different port. I would recommend 3333 or 88. _________________ http://jmoschetti45.com |

8080 is usually the next standard webserver port. I would suggest try that (however now some ISPs are even blocking that; they're relentless!).

Yes, one small problem though. 8080 is the default for a SOCKS5 (maybe SOCKS4, not sure which one) proxy server. _________________ http://jmoschetti45.com |

1080 is the default for SOCKS5. So maybe 8080 is SOCKS4. _________________ Bienvenidos! |

Yes. Its SOCKS4. I just checked. While we're talking about relentless port blocking ISPs, does anyone know of any good ones that don't block port 25 (smtp). My ISP (Internet 123) recently decided my mail server was a 'security threat' (no it wasn't, im sure, its over protected as is, didn't relay spam or anything either), and now is blocking port 25. So now I don't get anymore mail for my domain. _________________ http://jmoschetti45.com |

They're relentless!
Anyway, SBC Yahoo does not block any ports, and they are available mostly throughout the country. _________________ Bienvenidos! |

Thanks! I'll look into that. I hope they have at least 1M-bit connections avaliable. 768K seems to slow for me. (What I have now) _________________ http://jmoschetti45.com |

You could also look at using a DynDNS mailhop instead...
Quote: | MailHopSM Relay allows you to relay incoming mail to a mail server on a non-standard port. This is quite useful for those who want to run a mail server but are stuck with an ISP that blocks port 25, the standard mail port. Two globally redundant mail servers will handle mail for your domain, ensuring that it will be received all the time and delivered when you are online. All incoming mail can be passed through virus filtering and/or spam scanning to help reduce the load that your mail server has to deal with. |

Already looked. But since it costs extra, and I can get a non-relentless port blocking ISP with a faster connection for only ~4 dollars more a month im going to just switch ISPs. _________________ http://jmoschetti45.com |

I use 768K Down (SBC Yahoo) and I can max out the bandwidth easily in around 5 minutes. I recommend getting a 1 or 1.5M line. I pay $25/Month for the 768, so it shouldn't be that expensive for a 1.5. _________________ Bienvenidos! |

Im thinking 1 should be enough for now. If not, a jump to 1.5 wouldn't be hard. _________________ http://jmoschetti45.com |

Of course there is always OC768...
What do you do with your internet connection, and how frequently do you do it? (Just basically, such as "use P2P applications frequently," or "visit miscellaneous webpages periodically"). _________________ Bienvenidos! |

Well just "a few p2p apps" can easily max out your bandwidth. _________________ Bienvenidos! |

I know, but 1 M-Bit is plenty I think. I mean 768k wasn't that bad. A 232k increase is good enough for me. Sorry that I wasn't able to reply a long time ago. I just got my rear end out of court. _________________ http://jmoschetti45.com |

No, that's ok. I've been in Hawai'i the past week, so I haven't responded to anything in a while.
How much downloading do you do?
