I had this problem, I found to allow the light to go green it must be given internet access, in other words don’t stop it accessing the net with your firewall.
Also in the my.ini tab ensure that your password and user name is listed like this:user=EnterYourUserName
password=EnterYourPassword _________________ Olly |

I think you should not have your my.ini like that if your
going to password protect MySQL using phpMyAdmin , its
best to use phpMyAdmin for that. Later!
If you need a little help on that !

shoot off MYSQL complete with task manager mysql-nt.exe.After delete <my.ini> in Windows directory.
Start again <winmysqladmin.exe>. I think it help you.
But by sure if you have MySql in directory c:/mysql or Abyss directory like this:C:\Program Files\Abyss Web Server\mysql.... No deeper.
Sorry <TRUSTpunk>

The MySQL me.ini file is called my.ini , I think
you mis spelled it out , please change that
but yes that may help because it will overite
the MySQL password if you set one up. 8) |

Go to start > control panel > administrative tools > services
Look for MySQL, bring up its properties
Is it connecting via the system account?
Try to start the service from control panel (just hit the play button up top) and tell me what error you get when windows tries to start the service.

My method of fixing it was (this happened to me):
1. Make sure mysqladmin.exe isn't running. If it is, kill it.
2. Go into your task manager and kill the "mysqld.exe" or "mysqld-nt.exe" (which ever one is there).
3. Uninstall mySQL.
4. Reinstall mySQL using the tutorials featured in the "Tutorials" section on this forum.
5. Click on the "mysqladmin.exe" application in the "..\mySQL\bin\" directory (wherever you have it installed).
That should hopefully work for you. _________________ Bienvenidos! |
