i recently added dyndns which is pointing to my current ip, as notified by my router, my router seems to be configured correctly with the appropriate virtual server and corrosponding firewall allow 80 rule, and abyss seems to be setup correctly, yet i recieve 401 administrator denied access message whenever i try to access my domain.
does anyone have some idea as to what's wrong? what i should check next?
thanks a million

Yes, I know what's wrong. You have a D-Link router, don't you...
D-Link, along with some other router manufactures do not support "loopback." Essentially, loopback is when your browser goes out to the internet to "resolve" (find) the IP address of your Dyn-Dns name. Once finding that, your request has to go back in to the router to access the server. So basically, it makes a loop.
It doesn't really matter if you fully understood that; all you need to know is that there is only one way around it. You can't configure your router to act differently, because it is just part of the machine. The only thing you can do is get a proxy server, and view your website using that.
Note: You will only get this message the computer that tries to view your website is on the same network (using the same router) as the computer hosting Abyss. Anyone else outside your network will be able to view your website fine; that's why proxy servers work.
If you don't want to use a proxy, your going to have to buy a new router (Linksys supports loopback). _________________ Bienvenidos! |

why can't my blogger account ftp in correctly? and what's a good proxy server (simple, free), i was thinking of setting one of those up anyway, to allow public access for anonymity |
