Hi, I really, really want to host my own page with abyss, but I am new to this process, can someone please tell me what are the necesary steps to make this work. I been reading the forum looking for answers, but only to find things that I am not familiar with, like routers and DNS...if someone could give me a list of things to do in order to make this work it would be great, actually a tutorial would be great. Thanx. |

we need to know some things first:
do you have broadband?
what operating system do you have? (eg windows xp)
do you have any firewall software? (eg norton) _________________ Olly |

Aprelium already provide a detailed getting started guide / tutorial ...
http://www.aprelium.com/data/abyssws-x1-win-doc-html/start.html
Do you know if you have a static IP address including with your broadband package ? Your ISP's webpage should tell you - if it doesn't mention it, it's probably dynamic, in which case you'll want to sign up with a dynamic dns service like www.dyndns.org or www.no-ip.com. They both have full tutorials of how to set up your system to use their hostnames. It will mean that you can have an easy to remember name for your site, eg. ojohorus.ath.cx rather than users having to remember an IP address, or in the case of dynamic IP's not knowing where your site went...
Start working through the guide and post if you have a more specific problem :) |

you must disable xp's built in firewall (as I don?t run xp I can't tell you how)
go to http://www.aprelium.com/ip/ to get you ip address
and you must allow abyss access to the web _________________ Olly |
