An Aliases is a Virtual Folder that Abyss Web Server maps to.

Example: Alias /images

Virtual Path: /images
Real Path: C:\Files\Images

Note: Please read the documentation because I don't think you understand
how to use Abyss Web Server completely yet , it takes time to learn stuff. :)

You have a good point their but with Aliases , your not required to have the
folder in your htdocs , you can use a folder outside of the web root. Later!

Yes it does save time but not everyone has stuff they want to share in their
htdocs so they point it to different folders on their drive , the index listing
will always be here , even with the Aliases feature , Have A Nice Day...
