Got everything up and running A-OK with 1.1.6 on port 55955 under XP Pro on a PII/350 with 256MB RAM and using XP ICF and a Netgear DSL router. Thanks to all folks who work so hard to distribute this fine server for free!
I'm not wild about having the system root and documents path on my C: system drive. So, I created a directory "wServer" and under that a directory "pages" on E:, another drive.
However, when I enter 'E:\wServer" and "pages" in the fields under the console server config screen and click OK, Abyss stops responding and must be shut down with Task Manager.
Then it takes several forced shutdowns and restarts and "Cannot open/create the log file," & "Cannot open/create the CGI error file" messages to enter and restore the default paths. But, it DOES come back.
Is there something special to moving the root and docs paths?
Thanks! _________________ Your Jedi mind tricks won't work on me, Skywalker. |

dallas7,
If you change the system root, you must create in this new root an empty directory called log before restarting the server. The problem is that the log file and the CGI error file default value are relative to the web root and are inside a directory called log. So if the server doesn't find these files, it won't start. _________________ Support Team

That did the trick!
I would assume that the chl folder, abyss.conf and regkey.ser remain where they are, in the default install folder?
Thanks for the help. _________________ Your Jedi mind tricks won't work on me, Skywalker. |

Yes, abyssws.exe, regkey.ser, abyss.conf, and chl/ must always "live" in the same directory regardless of your Server Root setting. _________________ Support Team
