1) What needs to be changed for mp3's?

I'm asking this here because the only thing I can remember changing recently on my pc is an upgrade of the server. Aprelium esp., regarding andromeda or any simple link to a music file... suddenly all my files want to open in a window and play via quicktime --> HATE quicktime -- whereas usually they would automatically play in winamp (whether a single file or playlist). is there a setting somewhere I need to alter to get 'back to usual'?

Next, after the upgrade I changed the 'Resolve interpreter...' option to 'no'. that solved the issue of images not showing to a great degree, but somehow, the "p.gif" disappeared! I swear nothing else was changed! :? anyway, thats minor and resolved.

When you download quicktime over another media player already iinstalled , quicktime will play mp3's no matter what , check in your quicktime settings. Has nothing to do with Abyss

thanks. i didn't do a fresh d/l of it. QT has been on my system for some time but with winamp and wmp set as defaults for a total of all file types. i've also not played any media in QT (mov files or other). i know that QT has a habit of taking over when you do so I avoid it altogether.

before the post I did all I could to uninstall QT which in itself is a difficult task to accomplish. however, the files are still opened in a browser window instead of the default players. this is all new as of my upgrade but I will look at it as 'another' issue. :?
