I can't seem to access the Console or my protected aliases from another pc on my network.

Is it only restricted to the local machine?

It can't be if you give access to others, so I'm wondering what the hecks wrong on my end?

Everything works great from my webserver. I get password prompts and all.

Are there ports you need to specify?

I followed the other threads in the forum...but I have everything set the way it should...like I said...it works locally...

My web site works fine globally.

IE 6 on both machines.

Ideas? Is there window's networking rights involved?

Thanks for any ideas!

Yes, are you able to access other pages (apart from protected ones)? Is the second PC using a proxy or an ad-blocker?

I can get to everything that's not protected...from my other pc.

The website/server works great...

It's just that I can only use/access the console and protected pages from the local webserver and no other machine.

I do not have a firewall installed (at the moment)...I do have SpywareBlaster installed which blocks certain sites from dropping cookies and such but I've also added my domain to the TRUSTED sited in IE's settings and that doesn't help. I get no cookie warnings.

I'm guessing (as you probably are) that there's something goofy on my other pc that's preventing the prompts.

I'll attempt to disable and spyware blockers and try it again as I've noticed that some other sites (such as my work's exchange webmail) isn't functioning correctly either.

I'll post if anything changes...but if you have any further ideas...let me know.

thanks again!

JP

I think I understand whayt you are talking about , if you have a router or some kind of portfarding program , you should forward your console port to that port forwarding , otherwise you on a another PC would not be able to access it , only you will on your localhost.

Are you trying to access your console configuration page on another internet connection and not by your own Network , if so that's what you should do, if im wrong please correct me.

I do have a SMC Barricade Broadband Router in place which provides me a private network. So when I browse my pages...I'm not going out of my network and going back in...I stay inside my network.

Typically you don't have to monkey with stuff internally (but I'm no networking expert). So if you can outline what I need to do there...great.

I just tried my protected directory from work (from the outside world)...and I got the password prompt.

So what the heck do I have to do internally?

If it works now, don't worry about it , you might have typed the port wrong or something, im glad it works 8)

For security reasons , I block my console port out site of my network because remeber about that person talking about Brute Force, its safer to keep the console localy 8)
