Hello,
I want my testing server to be the same as my live dedicated, but I want to develop my website.
I am customising a software called social engine which requires MySQL and databases. Also I have a forum, and that needs databases
Please can someone give me a step by step guide for a dummy. I have searched the forum and to be honest I get stuck as everyone seems to know what they are talking about,

There is nothing special about installing MySQL. Download the MySQL installer that matches with your operating system from http://www.mysql.com and run it. Follow the on-screen instructions and MySQL will be installed in less than 3 minutes.
