Hey I think I know your problem , If you specify a default error page and you try to password protect a directory , your default error page will always show up , I recommend doing a custom error page for the 404 Not Found Error and everything should work fine
This crap happened to me once ! :D

but I still cant manage.
for the time beeing i get "bad path" when trying to do the Alias to my file.
-any file in htdocs
I have tried "it all", again and again, as soon as I create any (yes any) type of "own produced file" or "imported" f ex mp3 or picture and add that name into "Alias" I get "bad path".

Pls note that I have all my files in htdocs.
One thing is a succes, I can issue the Acces Control with password for htdocs..., but than everything in my site is restricted. :?
Please note that when a nobi like me can manage to get a webbserver up and running... it is a good webbserver... and it is running very good,
but I would love to protect one page, just one page ..., not all of it !
Suggestions ?
