localhost not working... help pls

Hi,

i'm a newbie on Abyss, i'm actually using webservers to develop an e-commerce portal as requested for an exam at my university.

I have WinXP 64bit and had tons of problems with IIS, so i decided to look for an alternative webserver, and so found and installed Abyss.

I noticed a little problem when i submit my form:
if the action field is related to http://localhost/ it doesn't work, it remains still there trying lo load a page...
however if the action link is related to http://127.0.0.1/ it works perfectly.

How can I fix this problem? thx very much

robymag,

It can be a third party applications error or an incorrect installation.

Is your browser using a proxy for local addresses? Try changing its configuration so that it do not use a proxy for localhost and/or 127.0.0.1 ?

Try installing another browser (Opera or FireFox) and do the tests with this new one. Can you see the http://localhost/ now?

What is the IP address returned in the command prompt by 'ping localhost'?
