phpMyAdmin Error With 'Cannot load mcrypt'

I'm trying to install phpmyadmin and get the error "Cannot load mcrypt extension. Please check your PHP configuration.". I've looked around and can't seem to find a solution anywhere. Can someone tell me how to correct this issue? The only solution I found was dealing with libmcrypt.dll and putting it in my System32 folder. I did this and nothing has changed.

Also, if I ignore that error and try enter my password and username (as I entered it into my config.inc.php file), most of the time I get "#2003 - The server is not responding". No clue what would cause this, Abyss seems to be running fine, as is MySQL.

Just for kicks, this info may be useful:

Abyss Web Server X1 (v 2.5)
PHP 5.2.2 package for Windows
MySQL 5.1.30 - WinX64

Abyss has already been configured for PHP following instructions within this forum. I believe PHP and MySQL are functioning just fine. Any way to check for errors?

I fixed the mcrypt error. I uncommented the "extension=php_mcrypt.dll" line in php.ini.

But I still can't get passed the login screen. Its always a #2003 error and nothing else happens.

I'm using phpMyAdmin 3.1.0 by the way.

*Edit*Changed something and now it says "#2003 - Can't connect to MySQL server on 'localhost' (10061)"

I checked everything I can find on google with no luck.

Do you have mysql installed? Is it on the default port? That error suggests there isn't a server on that computer.
