|
|
Hi,
I have a website set up on my home server and am hosting it on a Win 2K Server maching over a ADSL internet connection.
I want to have a load of subdomains, but the company that I have registered the domain name with (www.123-reg.co.uk) charges £10+VAT for each subdomain.
I have heard that you can hoast your own DNS and then create as many subdomains as you want ...
Does anyone know how I could go about doing this and what software I would need ?
Thanks, Paul. |

Are Your very lucky as you have everything you need right there. I know this is in Advanced Server, but it should be in Server as well. In Start -> Programs -> Administrative Tools, there should be a icon called "DNS". Run this and a MMC window should show up. If this is the first time you've ran this a "Configure Your Server" wizard should show up, if you've skiped this before then right click on the icon of the server and click "Configure Your Server". You should then have a functional DNS server on your computer. |
