Is it possible to install Abyss to a computer on a network, but not let the other computers on the network see Abyss???

Abyss alone will not do this for you. You will need a third party solution to help prevent others on your network from accessing it. Get a firewall with IP blocking on certain ports http://www.kerio.com
Thats one way... theirs a few others but I am comfortable with that way. Good luck :)
