				Hi,

I have installed Abyss Web Server and linked a domain name to my IP number, my index page (text only) can be viewed on the net. It all works well so far.

When I try to put a pic on my page it will not be displayed. When viewing the page locally it works fine so I guess the HTML code is ok.

The pic (.gif) is only 2kb so it should be displayed fast.

Can my ISP block pictures from being put on my site, should I open another port on my modem/router?

Can anybody help me?

Regards, |

No, generally, an ISP can't stop you from displaying pictures on your website.

What I would suggest is to make absolutely sure that the file is in a proper format. One thing that happens to me often is trying to post pictures that are in CMYK. Only when I change it to RGB mode will they work.

BTW, post your address so we can all take a look. Maybe we all can figure this out. |

Perhaps you have the wrong URL to the picture in your page. I suggest you make it relative. _________________ -Blake | New Server :D

				Hi,

My domain name is www.id-match.nl

Because I'm setting up the site at home it will not always be online. Sometime next year I will use another pc as a server and the site will be online 24/7. It's a bit early but I don't want to have issues when I start the site.

I'm sorry, I'm new to this. How can I make it relative?

Now I'm using code like

<img src="/img/work.jpg" alt="work">

Where the root "is" C:/Program Files/Abyss Web Server/htdocs

The path should be ok I guess because there's one pic I can see when testing it local. At my neighbours pc it won't display.

How can I change the format to RGB, I'm using Irfanview to edit my pics?

The start page should look like this:

Leo

(I'm using Notepad as an html editor after trying Frontpage) |
