I've been programming applications for years, and wanted to expand my skills (purely for personal gain) by learning web languages.
Starting off with Abyss X1, and a fundamental knowledge of HTML 4.01, I threw together a site using a free DNS redirection (yourname.site.com, for example).
Here I am a little over a year later with a great grasp of XHTML, CSS, PHP, and starting to learn Javascript.
I've purchased the X2 server about 6 months ago, and the only time I've ever had to restart is when Windows wanted to update. It has ran "hiccup-free" and serves pages fast and effectively. Now all I have to learn is URL rewriting so I can SEO my site.
Thanks to Aprelium, I'll never have a need to even install Apache, IIS, or any other server application.
FIVE STARS!

I know this has to be the hottest question on the webz, but I'll ask it because I figure plenty of people here have some suggestions.
I've really been trying to kick off some of my sites and draw some new userbase to it. Any ideas on quick and effective methods? (Cheap ones too...If that's even possible!)
Thanks in advance. _________________ Audit the secure configuration of your server headers! |

I always set the website field for my profile on forums, sometimes people get curious. I tell my friends about my sites, especially if I've made something useful. Showing interested people useful stuff in instant messengers sometimes gets some users. This all generates a very low number of visitors though...the internet is huge. You need to think "why should they use my website as opposed to someone else's?"...if you can answer that seriously then you might have something. _________________ -Blake | New Server :D
