When there is no Index.html or whatever, yoe see the directory list, can you change this list to look beter? (Style change?)

Not in the current versions. But the future one will include such a feature.

Roughly, Last quarter of 2003... They're some scripts which can help you achieve another look for your directories but you'll have to go looking for them as I am satisfied with the default look now... Good luck :)
