I am using a DYNDNS hostname and i can use wildcards (*.mydomain.dyndns.com). I used Abyss on another computer and it workd with an adress up to 200 caracters. Now I can use an address with under 80 characters. If its an longer address I receive an error page from my browser. Can you tell me why is that, please? Thanks! |

I believe domain names plus their sub-domains are limited to 63 characters so this may be the limit you are hitting. _________________ Andy (AbyssUnderground) (previously The Inquisitor)

I get the same problem. Of course, I've never needed a hostname quite that long!
I did an nslookup of a really long hostname that should point to my IP address. I get an unspecified error, so DNS is not accepting hostnames that long.
I'm guessing having long hostnames would be a favorite scheme of hackers and spammers. _________________ Stephen
