				| Hi,
I have just installed Abyss webserver on my machine, and it's running like a dream. I have now also configued my domain name to point at the server, so everything is going really well (and I can't beleave how easy it's been !).

I do however have one question - Is it possible to have some subdomains on my server, like that of www.news.bbc.co.uk ? If it is possible, can someone tell me where I should look for help setting it up ?

Thanks in advance for any help.

 Paul.

				| sub domains and domains themselves are handled by DNS. Abyss can not handle it and nothing on your system does the job. You need your own domain and DNS management or to get with a free service such as http://www.dyndns.org
 Good luck :)

				| He can get as many subdomains as he wishes with dnydns.org
 he can get:
 hisname1.dyndns.org
 hisname2.dyndns.org
 hisname3.dyndns.org
 hisname4.dyndns.org

and if he pays for the premium service he can get subdomains to his own domain.

Also wildcards are for scenarios like this: He owns mack.dyndns.org

 If someone enters mack.dyndns.org or

 www.mack.dyndns.org
 www1.mack.dyndns.org
 www2.mack.dyndns.org
 www3.mack.dyndns.org

It all points to his website.

In theory thats how wildcards should work.

How did you mean you question Paul?

				| I recommend http://www.no-ip.com , you can get a real sub domain address their and you can also choose to add wild cards or no wild cars and no this is no redirection domain it actually replaces your IP web address as a real domain address Try it, I use it , you can find my Abyss runned web site here http://offspring.zapto.org oh and by the way im using no-ip.com for the domain :D _________________

				| Thats one really cool thing about no-ip.com but I don't use either as they both have shortcomings to them... For example, I use a port and no-ip's free service doesn't support ports... dyndns supports ports but like you said its merely a redirection service...
Don't know what route is best to take...

				| Sorry if I have caused any confusion. What I actualty want is if I owned bbc.co.uk, then I want to put news.bbc.co.uk as a sub-domain.
I think that I need to set this up with the domain name registar ?

 Is that correct ?
