Dear All,

I have my own little static site with some basic SSI running under Abyss X1 for almost a year now, and I'm really glad I found this software because so far it does everything I want to do, and it does it in a way even I can grasp.

However, I recently stumbled over some documentation regarding the "<!--#if" directive at selfhtml.org, about which I can't find anything in the Abyss documentation. I tried it out nevertheless because this could streamline my site a lot, but apparently the directives are not supported.

For an example of what I'm trying to do pls see:
http://de.selfhtml.org/servercgi/server/ssi.htm#variable
Sorry, the explanation is in German, but after all, the mark-up is not.
So my question is: Is it really not supported on Abyss, or am I doing something wrong?
All I'm getting is some "[SSI Error in directive XX in line YY: Unknown directive]"
And, if it's not there, does anybody know whether implementation is planned for the forseeable future?

Thanks for any input you may have

Stephan

I don't think it is an official/standard directive, either that or Abyss does not support it.

XSSI (eXtended Server Side Includes) is not yet supported on Abyss Web Server.

Bad news, but thanks for the input.

On the other hand,

Does the "not yet" part justify hope for the not-too-distant future? Anyone aware of implementation plans for this feature?

Yes! Aprelium plans to add support for this in the near future from what I heard a while ago. XSSI isn't really important since PHP and other CGI scripts can do the same thing.

Now that's jolly good news!

Probably true. But then there's me trying to do it, and I'm so far completely illiterate when it comes to scripting. Would likely be able to handle some additional SSI directives, though.
Again, many thanks for your input!

Now that I've learned that what I'm looking for is called XSSI and not simply SSI, I have seared the forum again and found all my questions have been previously discussed/answered.
Sorry for having been a pain and thank you for your patience.

stephang,

XSSI are on our to do list but we had to postpone them to work on other more popular features such as SSL and URL rewriting.

They will be supported in a future version but unfortunately we cannot provide any exact date of availability right now.
