Swordmaster, welcome to the forums.
What configuration page are you referring to? Abyss or your router?
http://www.localhost:9999 is the default location of Abyss' console.
What port number did you assign your default host? |

Thanks in advance |

Edit - just saw your edit. Hold on...
Yes, you have to buy one.
No, you don't have to redirect.
When you buy a domain, you will be given a management page on the registrar's site
to configure the domain. All you have to do is point it to your IP address. |

You do not need to set anything in Abyss. You need to forward ports on your router to allow outside access. www.portforward.com will help you do this. _________________ Andy (AbyssUnderground) (previously The Inquisitor)

OK im not sure if i did this right. I clicked my router etc. went to my router config and then the port forwarding section and i portforwarded the port that is on my URL: 1024 and then i typed in my router ip.
Correct? |

That is correct. Now go to www.abyssunderground.co.uk/ip to find out your WAN IP (Internet IP). Beware that it may be dynamic and change often. If so you will need a no-ip.com or dyndns.com account. _________________ Andy (AbyssUnderground) (previously The Inquisitor)

If you're using port 1024 you will need to append that to the end of the url otherwise the browser will not know which port to look for the web server on. _________________ Andy (AbyssUnderground) (previously The Inquisitor)

I'm new to this, and need to make sure I understand (if this is a dumb question, that's why.)
There is already a server running on my IP address on port 80. I just put my new one up, and had to set it to port 1024. I'm just wondering now, will I have any problems if I get a domain and use my internet IP:1024 while there is already another domain set to my internet IP:80? Or is the port specification enough to take care of any server confusion (as in, does specification like that work when specifying on domains?)
Thanks. |
