As some of you may or may not know, my parents have gotten a new PC (which came with vista :/) The only problem iv been having with this machine is its REALLY REALLY SLOW! So i looked through a a ton of crap i didnt need till i finally found what i needed (here is the first problem) then i had to wait about 5 mins till i get "Do you want this program to run" (which i hate.... this is also the 2nd problem) and then i find that vista it self is eating up 95% of the RAM, making the other programs run less than 1% each, this is crazy because, the system was MADE FOR VISTA! now i can understand how an operating system can eat up 95% of 1GB of ram O_0 so now i have to go out and buy the other GB of ram so i can speed it up! (it came with 512MB of ram, but i popped in a 1GB DIMM so i could have the other slot open, when we needed to upgrade again, i didnt think we would be doing it so soon!)
So in short, DO NOT BUY VISTA!! _________________ Where have i been? School got heck-tick, had to move half way around the state, then back... and then i had to change jobs, so iv been away for a while :P |

What's with all the Vista topics lately? I don't recommend Vista as a server if every OS Microsoft releases, requires more Memory. |

with the release of vista it has made me more closer to the changing to linux/mac osx border...
At least when the new Mac OSX is released, their is one version that has everything and it is around £90 _________________ My online Portfolio |

this page http://www.apple.com/getamac/ shows an ad featuring justin long on why vista sucks. although with smugness, apple presents a very powerful argument why vista is a wrong path. computerization should mean simplification and automation of menial tasks - which vista may not necessarily answer if it would require such outrageous demands ON the consumer.
on http://www.apple.com/getamac/ads/ see the "surgery"! _________________

Ive had Vista for about 6 months now. I have 1GB of RAM and it runs fine. This maybe because im running 'Home Basic'
So for those who find it takes up loads of RAM it is more like the version of Vista your running. |

I've played with Ubuntu and a few Linux distros and they really are nice. You can even make it look like Vista (I'm not sure why you would want to though). The only thing stopping me from switching is games...quite a few are Windows-only and WINE isn't perfect. I wish more games would utilize OpenGL and be cross-platform. _________________ -Blake | New Server :D
