Well, as you can see in the title this is all I want to know by now.
How do I activate the MIME type so when the listeners of my radio station (hosted in my PC) click on the link of my webpage, the WMP opens with the live streaming?
Thanks in advance and regards.

It is easier to create an ASX file for them to download and run, which will open media player and start the stream. Many websites do this to avoid complications.

Hello, and thank you very much for your answer.
The ASX file is already created and placed in the root of my webserver. I click on it (in the folder where it is) and it calls the Media Player and I can listen to my own streming. The problem is when clicking the link on the webpage. a friend of mine has been helping me with the tests, checking if his WMP opens when clicking on this link, but we have had no succes with this. As far as I know I should enable the ASX MIME type in my Abyss webswerver, but I have forgotten what I have to write there, once the server setup is open. This is what I need. I will really appreciate any information in that way.
.........and thanks again!!
:D

This, as far as I know, has nothing to do with the MIME-Type. Its to do with the file associations on his computer. If ASX is associated with WMP on his computer then it should open when he clicks it.

The only other alternative would be to embed a media player onto the webpage.

Thanks again for your answer!
Anyway, in other forum I found how to enable this MIME type in my Abyss webserver.
I would appreciate it if you make a try to listen to my stream by clicking on the link for the WMP on the website, and report me if it works or not.
The address is http://kanamasterradio.dyndns.org
Thank you very much in advance; OK?

It does not work for me. It just comes up with a blank page with the title listen.asx (video/x-ms-asf Object)

Open up the control panel, now click on server configuration , click mime types , scroll down to bottom and click add , where it says mime type enter in the box: video/x-ms-asf , where it says Associated Extensions click add , enter in the box: asx

should now work.

this is a asx file i used to use for my streaming... ive just changed the info and that as a example

Code:

<ASX version = "3.0">

: domain.com
<Title> Station Name or Shows Name </Title>
<Author> email@domain.com </Author>
<Copyright> 2007 domain.com </Copyright>
<MoreInfo href="http://www.domain.com" />

<Entry>
<Ref href="http://ip:8000" />
<Banner href="">
<MoreInfo href="http://www.domain.com" />
Audio Streamed by domain.com
</Banner>
</Entry>

</ASX>

Hello back!
I just wanted to thank you all who with an idea or another helped me in this thread. By now the station (though in a test phase) is up and running.
As I could check and test also with people in other forums, sometimes a potential listener can not get the streaming with a determined player due to issues of file association. That's why in the page there are now three links, each pointing to a different player, in a way that people can receive the signal through the most suitable player for each particular case.
Again, thank you very much!

The temporary page of the station (still in test-phase):
