Abyss will work on both the internet and on a local area network (intranet) without modifications. X2 is required if you want to run multiple domains. _________________ Andy (AbyssUnderground) (previously The Inquisitor)

Yes, as Andy said, Abyss X1 will work fine for both.
The only thing to note is that there will be no difference in content for access from the internet and intranet.
In other words, if you wanted separate content for your internet viewers, you'd have to get X2. _________________ Stephen

192.168.2.100 is your internal ip.
This means that only computers in your network can see it. (ie, only PC's in your house)
89.98.44.53 is your external ip.
This is the one that the rest of the world can see. This is the one you give your friends.
It seems that you didn't configure port-forwarding correctly if you're still getting a router login.
Go to Portforward.com, click on your router's make/model, then follow the instructions for HTTP.
BTW - This belongs in Networking Issues. Moving... |

Well if you want the world (people not on your home network) to see your site, you must use 89.98.44.53, BE CAREFUL this may be dynamic! So check http://www.abyssunderground.co.uk/ip once a week at very least! Now since your using a router you have to forward port 80. Your internal IP address is 192.168.2.100 You need to go to your router's configuration panel (which is probably located at 192.168.2.1) there you will see forwarding, look for a preconfigured forward for 80 (most routers have this) if the forward for 80 is already present make sure it leads to 192.168.2.100 If the port forward for 80 is not present just add port 80, then make it forward to 192.168.2.100 then go to 89.98.44.53 and try it
ALSO! Make sure that your server is ON and listening on port 80, it should look like this:

thx for all hte info guys.
i had port 80 open in my router and windows firewall but teh checkbox of enable port forwaring wasnt checked so it sould work BUT still 1 problem why it sometimes keeps saying "Cannot listen to the console port " while port 80 isnt in use by something else i got the startup settings like start up and stuff so i dont need ot do it myself.
if this works and my friend cna acces teh page from his home i know if it works |
