|

I have the free version of abyss on my home computer and at work. I only use it for testing websites on my machine so I can see ssi's etc working.
About a week ago, and this was after a windows update, SSI's stopped working. Everything appeared OK on the console, so I downloaded the new version of Abyss. On both computers it's saying it's up and running but if I load a site that previously worked into htdocs the SSI's don't work and the links to the style sheets don't work. All the files are in the same places (under htdocs) that they were previously but the site in Firefox looks like I'm using Netscape 3.
This morning when I switched on abyss wouldn't start and said it had trouble listening to a port so I used the console to select another port and on restarting it says that it is running but nothing seems to work.
I'm using windows 2000.
I've had a brief look at the manual but it looks a bit technical and I need some help in telling me what I should be trying to do.
I have searched but can't find a similar problem anywhere. So apologies if I'm asking a stupid question but I do need some help.
Thanks in advance. |

If it said listening error check Skype or something like that isnt using the port.
As for the SSI, I have no idea. All I was going to suggest was check that SSI is enabled.
Have you changed any of your SSI code in the files? _________________ Andy (AbyssUnderground) (previously The Inquisitor)

It couldn't listen at port 8000 but it auto detected port 8001 and seems to be running OK. Apart from the SSI's and CGI scripts not working.
I have skype running in the background.
I haven't changed any of the SSI code.
Is there something basic I should be doing with the console eg should there be "interpreters" (whatever they are) in the cgi scripting parameters area which is empty.
I thought it might be the browser (FX2) but I've tried using IE6 and Opera8 and have the same problem. This is on my home and work machines both running win2K Pro.
<edit>
I got the links to the style sheets to work by removing the slash before the folder "styles" in the path. It always worked before with the slash so I don't know what's going on there.

OldHonky,
