Hi, I own the DS-112j NAS (Network Attached Storage) box from Synology. (Datasheet: https://ukdl.synology.com/download/Document/DataSheet/DiskStation/12-year/DS112j/Synology_DS112j_Data_Sheet_enu.pdf)

Thus unit can be configured as a web server. I am able to host php apps but would like to host asp.net apps as well. From what I understand, it seems that Mono can be installed on the DS-112j. However, it only supports .Net v 2.x versions.

Question: Is it possible to install Abyss on this box (Note: Synology NAS operate on Linux)? I am interested to run .Net 4.0 asp.net/MySQL applications.

TIA for any hints.

I realize that this post is 9-years-old... and I realize that my question doesn't pertain to Networking & should be asked in a different section... just replying to a question posted here years ago :-)...

Did you ever get Abyss (Linux) running on your Synology?

I have a Synology DS419slim that I would like to try to install Abyss (Linux) on, but no idea where to begin. For that matter, I don't know anything about Linux either :-)).

I've been running Abyss X2 on Windows for almost 20 years, and love it, but would like to get it running on my Synology.

Thanks in advance & have a great day.

Regards,
John

JMMotyer,

That NAS box is powered by a Marvell Armada 385 88F6820 Dual-Core processor.

This is an ARM-based processor and our version of Abyss Web Server for Linux is only for 32-bit and 64-bit Intel compatible processors. It won't work on ARM processor families.

Technically speaking, nothing prevents Abyss Web Server from being built for any 32-bit or 64-bit ARM processor (the macOS version includes such an executable). But there are so many of them with many subtle differences that we could never build a version that runs correctly on a significant chunk of them. The fragmented ARM market does not help a lot...
