Tried looking at the other posts with similar problems but those didn't help.
So, I try to access the webpages I have in my htdocs folder using my server's IPv4, and I always get 403 Forbidden errors, no matter the page I try to load. This happens for all of the indexes (the default ones that came with the install and one I added myself), as well as any otehr pages I added to the htdocs folder in my Abyss Web Server directory.
I've been reading around the documentation and trying various things, the only lead as to what the problem may be has something to do with "automatic indexing", but I've not figured out exactly what it means or where to change it.
The server is being run on an old laptop running Windows Vista Service Pack 2, I believe the install is the 32 bit version of Abyss Web Server 1x. |

JWN,
Did you set a host name for your main host? If so, you can no more access it by its IP in the URL as in http://127.0.0.1 for example.
Anyway, please send us by email to our technical support your abyss.conf file for review and don't forget to reference this forum message. _________________ Follow @abyssws on Twitter

To clarify, what I am doing is finding the laptop's public IP by using ipconfig and the using that IP for attempting to view my webpages. In theory this should work, but so far it has not (except for the default webpage that comes with the server set-up). |

If you set a hostname, you MUST use the host name for accessing the site therwise you get error 403.
For an IP only access, you'll have to remove the host name and have the host reported as "Default hot on port XX".
Alternatively, have the hostname properly associated to the IP so that normal processing happens when you use the URL with that host name.
Again, please contact us by email fo a faster exchange regarding the issue. _________________ Follow @abyssws on Twitter

/ means all the Web site. So it makes sense you were getting error 403 since you've denied access to all your site with that rule. _________________ Follow @abyssws on Twitter
