|
|
I am having trouble accessing my server from other computers. I have forwarded the ports on my firewall as the sticky at the top of the forum suggested:
I have even forwarded the ports on my windows firewall as well. My site is available locally: http://localhost/, but not over the net: http://74.243.59.213/ .
Can someone help me? Major thanks in advance =) |

What is your ISP? Some bigger ISPs block port 80. They don't like home servers because they might spread viruses or illegally share files. _________________ Stephen

I doubt AT&T is blocking your port 80. I'm pretty sure they don't block mine. _________________ -Blake | New Server :D

That's good to know, but I still can't reach my files from a remote computer. All security devices on my computer are disabled for now, still a no go. |

You have no idea if it is your router or your pc? Step one would be to bypass your router. If that doesn't work then i'm betting it is in your firewall software on your PC. It could be that you have your own firewall software installed and the windows firewall also enabled.
Step two would be to double check your router's settings. It maybe that it has some retarded settings that'll block you from even getting a response packet from your router even after you've forwarded ports.

O yeah, it could also be abyss. if you have the host set up with no Host Names. In the host list it should show "Default Host On Port 80". If you have any host names added then you'll also have to have your IP address added to the host names.

I have directly connected my computer to my modem, so my router is out of the picture. I am still having the same problem. I do have my own firewall program, but I have disabled it to see if that was the problem, but it was not. My Windows Firewall is diabled as well. I probably have Abyss set up wrong. |

if you get it working let me know.
Do you have a static IP address? If you don't have a static IP you could be using the wrong IP address. I'm also guessing that you don't have a domain name ether. |

1. Try http://127.0.0.1 on the server
2. Try your internal IP address on the server (like http://192.168.1.101 )
3. Try your internal IP address from another computer on your LAN
4. Try your external IP address from the server (you can get your current IP address in the picture below this message)
5. Try your external IP address from another computer on your LAN
Which of these give you problems? _________________ Stephen

I have the same problem, the only step I can do is number 1, the rest don't work.
I'm the same way...
No router, no firewalls, nothing. |

I can only view anything when I type in "http://127.0.1" (or ftp://127.0.1)
http://myip will not work. I tried putting http://myip:80 still nothing. I was behind a router and firewall, but just to try and fix this, everything is gone. I'm now using a straight connection, and no firewalls. |

I got my answer!!!
They will not allow people setting up home servers with my ISP. I just called and he checked my account information. |
