|
|
I've been running Abyss for over two years with my .php programs with no problems. I'm only running one site on my computer.
I decided it was time to get the new version. After downloading it, I added Application/ php with extension .php in the Mimes screen.
BUT . . . when I try to bring it up, instead of running the script it shows the source code in a separate window.
What else do I need to do? Please help. I can't work on the site until I get this fixed. |

DUH! I forgot debugging Rule One . . . if something doesn't work, turn it off and on again.
I did restart the server, don't know why that didn't work. Then I decided to turn off my computer and take a walk. When I turned it back on, everything was working fine.
Maybe you can delete this post rather than taking up space with it. |

Yes, it has been a long time (actually 2004, longer than I thought). I don't remember doing a thing since I first got everything installed and running. This is very stable software.
After I got .php running and recovered from my panic attack, I went to the console again. I want to see if I can get a Perl script to run. When I went into Mime types, my php entry was gone. But php is running fine. I went through the list twice, and I cannot find it. I'm totally confused. According to my notes from three years ago, all applications have to be in this list. Javascript and HTML were already there. I don't know why php is working!
Thanks for the references. I now have the Hosts table (which is the reason I ran the upgrade), but I get a message that I can only add Perl on the professional version of Abyss. I'll have to wait until my budget looks a little healthier. |

I clicked "Add" on the "Host" panel and got this:
The requested feature is not available in this version of Abyss Web Server.
You are now using Abyss Web Server X1 which is the free personal edition of Abyss Web Server. The feature you have requested is only available in the professional edition Abyss Web Server X2.
Abyss Web Server X2 extends the powerful capabilities of this software and adds advanced features such as virtual hosting (support for two or more hosts) and fine bandwidth control.

Thats the host table. You can only have one host in Abyss X1. What you should be looking at is the Scripting Parameters. Click configure next to your existing host then scripting parameters and follow the tutorial for setting it up. _________________ -Blake | New Server :D
