I guess I'm a little uncertain as to whether Zend Optimizer is available and will or won't work with Abyss and the pre-configured PHP packages? I'm running Abyss 2.5 X2 on a Windows Vista PC. |

Zend should work just fine on Abyss. _________________ Andy (AbyssUnderground) (previously The Inquisitor)

gsownsby,
Zend Encoder depends on PHP only and is fairly Web server neutral. So the short answer to your question is "Yes". The long answer follows:
We have installed Abyss Web Server 2.5, our preconfigured PHP 5 package for Windows http://www.aprelium.com/abyssws/php5win.html, and then have run the ZendEncoder installation package available in http://www.userscape.com/helpdesk/index.php?pg=kb.page&id=3 (it's the same as the one on Zend.com, but you get it without registering to their site).
During the installation, we were asked to choose the Web server type: we selected "Other Web server".
We later were asked to enter the location of php.ini. It was the directory where PHP 5 is installed (this is where php.ini is if you use our preconfigured PHP 5 package).
The installation program asked also for the root of the Web Server. We have answered with the directory where Abyss Web Server is installed.
We have followed the on-screen instructions until the installation was over.
After that, we have restarted Abyss Web Server and created a phpinfo.php file:
Code: | <?php
phpinfo();
?> |
When browsing it, it shows that ZendEncoder is loaded both in the copyright box: "This program makes use of the Zend Scripting Language Engine: Zend Engine v2.2.0, Copyright (c) 1998-2007 Zend Technologies with Zend Extension Manager v1.2.0, Copyright (c) 2003-2007, by Zend Technologies with *Zend Optimizer v3.2.6, Copyright (c) 1998-2007, by Zend Technologies*" and in the "extensions" information below (there is a table containing technical information about ZendEncoder support). _________________ Beta Testing Team

Outstanding! Thank you. I followed your instructions and we seem to be up and running with Zend. Thank you again for your quick reply and clear instructions. |
