1. I'm using Abyss X1 2.3.2 .
2. I downloaded and installed "mysql-essential-5.0.27-win32".
3. I also got phpMyAdmin 2.10.0.2 ..
4. I already had PHP installed. Works fine.
Thing is, nothing else does.!!! i can't get phpMyAdmin to work on MySQL, more importantly i can't get mySQL to work.. Please advise.
When i try viewing my site, i get this:
Code: | Warning: mysql_connect(): Client does not support authentication protocol requested by server; consider upgrading MySQL client in H:\Site\new\chat\connect.php on line 2
Server Error: Could Not Connect. |

The MySQL version is incompatable with your PHP version. Try downgrading your MySQL version to 4.x.
You can get a 4.x version from my website, www.abyssunderground.co.uk/tutorials.php and also other tutorials that may help you.
If you still have problems, start from scratch with both PHP and MySQL and use the recommendations on my website.
PHP4 and MySQL 4.0.24 work very well together. Ive used this for over 2 years now with no issues. _________________ Andy (AbyssUnderground) (previously The Inquisitor)

have you added the password to the phpMyAdmin config file? Otherwise the program will not be able to authentikate with the MySQL server. _________________ Olly |

Try going through the tutorials. You may actually get somewhere. _________________ Andy (AbyssUnderground) (previously The Inquisitor)

edit settings in your config.inc.php file in the phpmyadmin installation
just look at the file with text editor and read the comments to figure out what to change
i know this is an old thread but this is an easy fix that doesnt really need a trip back to the tutorials at abyssunderground to be solved
unless you dont understand the instuctions above |
