The manual (Appendix B, Startup Configuration) says to select 'Startup Configuration' in the Server Menu.
However, I can't find that Menu Item, but I'm only looking at the console menus, and kind of figure the Server Menu is displayed on installation? It has been a while since I installed, but I don't remember that option, and re-launching the installation does not offer much clarity (so I aborted).
I see I can use command line to start as a service, but where is the Server Menu mentioned. All I see in the console menu is 'Parameters'.
I must be missing the obvious.

Double click the abyss swirl icon, go to Server, Startup Configuration and enable Install as service and click the checkbox to enable on startup. _________________ Andy (AbyssUnderground) (previously The Inquisitor)

dapiaoen,
You can also access the same dialog by selecting the Windows Start menu > Programs > Abyss Web Server > Abyss Web Server Startup Configuration . _________________ Support Team

Was able to easily start as a service, but I lost my data drives.
I did read that the mapped drives would no longer be valid, so I went with the network path, for example:
//mydrive.corp.gov/private/databases/mydatabase.mdb
Could not think of any combinations of slashes and backslashes to find the data. My error message says "Can't connect to //mydrive.corp.gov/private/databases/mydatabase.mdb"
So, I moved the database(s) into htdocs. Now, when I compile with perl I still get my error message saying perl can't connect to 'mydatabase.mdb', but it does connect since I can use all the data.
I'm using perl and MsAccess (for now) to develop.
Any ideas?

You can make it logon as a user as far as I know so you can use network drives.
Go into control panel, administrative tools, services, and located Abyss Web Server, right click it and go to properties.
Now go to the logon tab and input a username and password on the system which has the drives mapped. This should work but don't hold me to it. _________________ Andy (AbyssUnderground) (previously The Inquisitor)

Network shares use backslashes exclusively as in \\mydrive.corp.gov\private\databases\mydatabase.mdb.

Is there an error code number with the message? Error codes tend to give more information about the failure in most cases. _________________ Follow @abyssws on Twitter

The error (when compling) is fixed. I had to give a complete path to htdocs.
And -- sorry to waste your time -- apparently a typo in the path caused the other problem. I don't know what the typ0 was, since I tried everything, but mornings are apparently better for me than end of day.
