Hi All,
Running Abyss fantastically of my home server, BUT my website has outgrown my adls provider, i.e. 500 visitors a day and outages are not taken kindly.
so I am getting a server at Rackspace ( it helps that I work there, so anyone need anything PM me :-)
Anyway, they are giving me a server with Windows 2003, but naturally I will install Abyss, but was asking myself, and I have searched but cannot find an answer, what are the benefits of having Abyss over Win 2003 server. ( I started with abyss to save on the cost of Win 2003 and now know only this).
Thanks

Windows 2003 is the operating system, not the web server. You will still need some form of web server, Abyss, IIS, Apache etc. IIS is native to most 2003 editions but I find it horrible to use. Abyss is a lot easier, and since you know your way round it, you may not want to switch to another http server. _________________ Andy (AbyssUnderground) (previously The Inquisitor)

opps, did mean IIS, shoudl have specified, in anycase the word horrible is good enough for me ;-)
Plus I do love all the goodies it has and as I am in sales, I usually recommend it to clients I speak to that are not "that" technical :D
The anti crash feature and 404 redirect are fab.
Just wish I could find a good web stats program, as weblog expert takes a bit and is not webbased, awstats does not seem to work anymore.
Also seems that my weblogs grow by 5 Mb a day, not sure if that is normal for 500 visitors a day website |
