I'm forced to type the default port

Hi:

I installed Abyss Web Server, the manual says that you don't have to type the port when it is the default one, but if I do so I get an error message "HTTP Error 404.0 - Not Found"

If I type it like htt...:8000/Test.html, the page shows nicely

What could it be?

If Abyss Web Server finds that there is another application/server using the default port 80, it will revert to using port 800. In such a case, it says it in plain words (in the console and in its window) that your URL has :8000 in it.

To use the default port, you'll have to first disable/stop the other application using port 80. Once that done, use Abyss Web Server console to configure your host to use port 80 instead of 8000.
