Hello kelmyster,
Did you forward port 80 on your modem as well as on router?
I also have a DSL set up and I had to forward the port in the DSL modem settings.

Thank you Aprelium for the link, and honestly Ralph, i dont beleive i did forwarded the modem itself, actually i am not sure how to do that off the top of my head. i know how to get into the setting but there is no option to forward anything, The only selectable options in my modem settings interface is reboot modem, reset modem, idle time or auto connect, disconnect and password change.
my modem is a Siemans speedstream 4200. |

OK, kelmyster,
Then your modem is different then mine!...My DSL modem is a different brand, mine works as a router and has an Advanced Settings section with firewall and port forwarding adjustments.

I am wondering if your ISP might be blocking port 80! Some ISPs do block the port I have heard.

oh yes my friends, HOOAH! im hot on the trail... this is where i stand,
your were partially right in telling me to check my modem settings, thos sneaky modem/router makers! rawr! ANYHOO, this is the new problem at hand:
when i logged into my modem settings, i noticed that banner right away, its the same banner i get that says "login error" when i type my URL (TLD)...
BINGO! now, i wondered to myself, why am i getting directed to this ip from my TLD??? so i checked my router and BOOM! the default gateway is set for my modem config screen. the problem is, i cannot change that in a dynamic state (automatic ip) although my bell sympatico is a PPPoe connection, it works best in this setting. (and only this setting) i gotta somehow change the default gateway without leaving the dynamic "auto ip" environment in my linksys router (befsr41 v3).
*if i were Neo, id be in a virtual washroom, lettin out steamy piles of binary. |

kelmyster,
I honestly do not think you need to change your default gateway. I could be wrong about that but, I would think the gateway lets you go through the modem.
If it were me I would try using a different port first. Change the port number on your general server to like 8080 and in your forward router port and then try it.
To access then type the port# with your local e.g. 127.0.0.1:8080.
