I wanna buy this dvd burner and on the specs req' it says 1.7 ghz. i have 3 computers, but the 1 i wanna install it to is only 733 mhz. anybody think the dvd burner will still work, but probably at a slow speed than normal??? _________________ ~TRU~ |

I'd imagine that the spec is for the bundled software, and probably grossly over estimated at that. Should be fine in a 733mhz, but don't expect to burn at 16x/12x and possibly even 8x, unless you've upgraded the other hardware in it... _________________

Any DVD Burner will work just fine. 1.7GHz is prefered if you are going to be doing a lot of movies, as encoding them into DVD format is quite a CPU intensive operation. Burning data/music/backing-up etc will be fine, encoding movie files will be possible but don't expect to use your computer while doing it ;-)
