are you behind a router?
If so, check out portforward.com to find out how to set up your router to port-forward |

Did you change port 80 to a different one? If so, did you remember to add that portnumber when you set up the domain name? |

What is the IP address people are using to connect successfully?
If I manually resolve the domain name you've just posted, I get 216.114.49.58 - connecting to that IP fails. _________________

ummm depending on who you bought the domain name from there is a 60-day "holding period" where they check your pc for viruses and other risks to the internet they also do a WHOIS search on your ip to check for wire fraud charges and other illegal activitys. once your comp is green lighted and the 60 days are up the domain will work :D |

Anonymoose wrote: | You're getting pretty good at repeating exactly what someone else said two posts ago ;) | At the very least, I confirmed, through DNS records, his IP address through your question "What is the IP address people are using to connect successfully?". Manually resolving the IP of an address by simple pings, tracert or the like *may not* tell the whole story. ;) _________________

think it has to do with the dns, or the webserver it's self.. i can still connect from the dns'd ip (216.114.49.58). but i still can not connect with the domain http://the4thcoming.net. |

your config is weird. as i just tried http://the4thcoming.net/, i saw "It works!", but when i tried http://216.114.49.58/, my browser times out, i.e.,
Quote: | The connection has timed out
The server at 216.114.49.58 is taking too long to respond.
* The site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Try again in a few
moments.
* If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer's network
connection.
* If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure
that Firefox is permitted to access the Web. |

That person doesn't even want to use Abyss Web Server. It works but it's not
the server software you would expect he/she to be using. |

Seems to be a browser issue. Connecting by domain name now works in both Firefox and IE7. Connecting by IP fails in Firefox, works in IE and wget. And, as TrustAbyss says
Quote: |
Connecting to 216.144.49.58:80... connected.

AbyssUnderground wrote: | Unfortunately there is nothing you or aprelium can really do to stop people using the James Dean copy of Abyss. Its been tried and failed. | Not true. It may be impossible to stop the distribution of the pirated copy, but Aprelium can go after the users.
In this case, Aprelium could send a complaint to their ISP, www.nls.net, informing them that the following person
is in violation of section 3(iii) in NetLink's Terms and Conditions. (email: abuse@getinfo.org)
Code: | Domain Name......... the4thcoming.net (216.144.49.58)
Owner's Name........ Jamie Marino
Owner's Address..... 215 Chris Ave
Owner's Address..... Apt H2
Owner's Address..... Washingtonville
Owner's Address..... OH
Owner's Address..... 44490
Owner's Address..... UNITED STATES
Owner's Phone....... +1.3307745327
Owner's Email....... jamie_867@hotmail.com |
The above person may or may not be the ISP account holder.
But, if they have access to the connection with or without permission, the account holder is still liable. |

I believe he's getting that from this quote: Quote: | (iii) User may not post or transmit any message, data, image, program or file which contains viruses, worms, "Trojan horses" or any other code that has other destructive properties, nor publish a Web page: that would violate any law or regulation... |

DDoSing is not actually "illigal" (sic); although, it is generally considered unethical but may be against the law in the jurisdiction of the physical network being used in carrying out the DDoS, just like defacing someone else's website - which I heard you've been guilty of in one time or another? :) _________________

Please get your facts right before posting B*****t about me.
1. DDoSing is illigal as it prevents its owner from accessing the machine, which is stated under the misuse of computers act as being against the law if a user is prevented from doing so by unauthorised access to the machine. A DDoS attack is just one of those "unauthorised" accesses to the machine.
2. I have never defaced another persons site and I would never do so. _________________ Andy (AbyssUnderground) (previously The Inquisitor)
