I'm attempting to partially automate the process of adding users to Users and Groups in Abyss. What I'd like is to have a form where a user could enter a desired username/password and have those recorded into a flat file in a pre-encrypted format (the one Abyss uses), then have a batch file or something that I could run to add those usernames/passwords to the abyss.conf file and then restart the service to invoke the changes.

The part I'm having trouble with is how I'm to go about adding a username/password to the abyss.conf file without having to do it manually. Can anyone suggest a technique (preferably in PHP) or program that can parse through the XML in the abyss.conf file and find the <users> section in order to add to it?

Shiro,

Please contact support@aprelium.com to receive a sample Perl script which does all what you want (of course, do not forget to add a reference to this forum message). The Perl script can be used as the basis of an automated user management system.

I got the script, but unfortunately haven't yet had the chance to take a look at it. Thanks very much for the help, I'll try to remember to post if I'm successful.

To help with the Abyss panel, can you post a PHP version?

TRUSTpunk,

We'll post the Perl code which is readable and understandable (Sorry but we do not have the time to convert it to PHP as we're busy with the new version :-) ).
