Can some on help me get this clear in my mind please.
I have aybss running on a pc in the loft as the server for my lan and for hosting a site. this pc has a static IP address. 192.168.***.***. on this pc I have php my admin running, in the tutorial I used to intall it, it said to access this on 127.0.0.1 ( which I thought looped back to my own pc ?) so on the phpmy admin config file, I set the lan address of the server ********/phpmyadmin, this seems to work fine however
Do I have this right ?
I have searched the forums but it just makes me more confused :)
Many thanks in advance |

127.0.0.1 is the loopback address. It tells whatever PC you're using to connect to itself.
If you use http://127.0.0.1 on the PC in the loft, running Abyss, it will find your site.
If you use http://127.0.0.1 on a PC elsewhere on your house, it will not connect to the server running Abyss in the loft, it will connect to itself (and most likely fail because you won't be running a HTTP server on every PC on your LAN). On your other PC's, you should use http://<IP of the PC in the loft> _________________

Anonymoose, i beleive that bootneck already knows about this,
and was just asking if (s)he was correct in setting phpmyadmin up with the servers lan ip address
Bootneck, im not sure.
try it, if it doesn't work, then its only a file, and it can be modified easily _________________ Anthony R
